There is a touch of humour in the inspiration behind these solid oak Shelves, created for Danish design brand Audo (Formerly Menu) by Norwegian design duo Gridy and named after those intriguing fungal shelves which can sometimes be found jutting from woodland trees. Scandinavians love to bring a piece of the natural world into their homes, possibly to serve as a reminder or the beautiful outdoors during the long Nordic winters. The Gridy floating shelves do just that. The thought behind the design was to produce a shelf which would make an impact on its own, but not detract from whatever object is displayed on it.
