The art of Raku. This raku tumbler is entirely handmade by ceramist Isabelle Blanchy next to Bordeaux. This is for us a real favorite. Indeed, we fell in love in front of these unique pieces and its creator. It is a real pleasure to be able to share here his work and his know-how. Raku ceramics are cracked and smoky ceramics. Raku is a Japanese word used to describe the happiness that one finds by chance. In the workshop of isab.l, there is happiness and chance. The happiness of slowly creating, by hand, unique pieces. The happiness of imagining and putting enamel on their curves. Then the happiness of burning them out of the fire to plunge them into the wood chips. Finally the happiness of discovering what fire has randomly transformed the quality of the chips, the climate of the day, the oxidation or the reduction. Finally, enamelling with copper oxide also becomes a source of chance. The oxidation will bring a green tint to the cup, more or less intense and completely sparse. It will sometimes have golden and coppery shades, sometimes pulling rust or red in places. Incredible.
